This itinerary combines dramatic offshore reefs, untouched coral systems, and some of the richest marine biodiversity in the Red Sea. From deep walls and pristine plateaus to dolphin encounters and shark-filled drop-offs, this safari delivers a true expedition-style diving experience.
Daedalus Reef
Daedalus Reef is one of the most famous offshore dive sites in the Red Sea and a highlight of any Daedalus Rocky Zabargad liveaboard diving experience. Rising dramatically from the deep blue, this isolated reef is renowned for its steep walls, powerful currents, and exceptional visibility. Divers regularly encounter large schools of scalloped hammerhead sharks, along with grey reef sharks, thresher sharks, and occasional oceanic whitetips. The reef is also covered in healthy hard corals, sea fans, and vibrant reef fish, making every dive both thrilling and visually spectacular.
Rocky Island
Rocky Island offers some of the most dramatic wall diving in the southern Red Sea and is a key stop on the Daedalus Rocky Zabargad Safari. Its vertical drop-offs are blanketed with soft corals, gorgonians, and black coral bushes. The strong currents attract pelagic species such as grey reef sharks, silvertips, barracudas, and tuna, while the reef itself hosts moray eels, nudibranchs, and schooling snapper. This site is ideal for advanced drift diving and wide-angle photography. It is also one of the only places in the Red Sea where you can spot the Scalloped Parrotfish!
Zabargad Island
Zabargad Island adds variety and balance to the Daedalus Rocky Zabargad Trip with its calmer conditions and diverse underwater landscapes. Known for its coral gardens, sloping reefs, and swim-through caves, Zabargad is home to turtles, eagle rays, napoleon wrasse, and large schools of reef fish. The island’s unique topography and crystal-clear waters make it an excellent location for relaxed exploration dives and macro life spotting between adrenaline-filled offshore dives.
